Plan on a full day of hard work with pizza at the end.
This is the one MAJOR fund raiser the ship does, so
we need the full support of everyone!

Sea Scout Ship 25 Long Cruise
– Bermuda Ocean Race 2010. Details
Spaces are currently filled, and wait list has one person so far.
June 26-27, 2010, Saturday
OR Sunday. Parking Lot Fundraiser at Garrod Hydraulics.
We have a new and almost painless fundraising opportunity this year in
addition to our spring Mulch Sale and our fall Shiloh Nurseries parking lot
detail. On Saturday, June 26, from 8
p.m. to 10 p.m. (rain date Sunday, June 27) we can run the parking lot at Garrod
Hydraulics for cars coming to see the local Strinestown Fire Company fireworks
display. We get to keep $2 out of
every $3 parking fee we collect, so this is a potential gold mine.
Unfortunately, some of us will be on the Bermuda cruise at the time, so
we’ll need people who are NOT on the Bermuda Cruise to run this for the ship.
July 17 – August 1, 2010.
Sea Scout Ship 25 Long Cruise #2 – Hudson River Cruise.
This is the first year Ship 25 has offered a second long cruise in the
same year. We expect to sail from
Maryland up the Chesapeake Bay, down the Delaware Bay, stop again at Lewes DE to
see the sights including Rehoboth Beach, and then proceed out into the Atlantic
Ocean and up into New York harbor. After
seeing the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, the South
Street Seaport, and the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum (the aircraft carrier USS
INTREPID), we plan a leisurely cruise up the beautiful Hudson River Valley to
Saugerties, NY where Skipper has relatives.
If we are lucky, they may let us use their car to go see Woodstock, NY
and Max Yasgur’s farm, site of the 1969 Woodstock Concert. Cost: TBA, probably
less than $300 not including admission fees at places of interest.
A $100 deposit payable to Ship 25 BSA will hold your place.
Three of eight spaces are already filled.
August 5-7, 2010, Thursday
to Saturday. Venturing Crew 277 Herrington Harbor Cruise. Crew
277 has asked Ship 25 to host them on a short three-day Chesapeake Bay cruise to
Annapolis and Herrington Harbor. Seth
Shoemaker will be the point of contact for this event.
Who knows? We might recruit
some new members this way.
August, 2010 – Date TBA.
This year’s plans aren’t firm yet, but traditionally the Chesapeake
Flotilla hosts a laid-back informal snug harbor get-together where ships from
the flotilla raft-up in their respective vessels for a weekend of fantail BBQ,
swimming, water skiing, and all-round good times.
October 1-3, Friday to
Sunday. Wizard Safari, Wizard Ranch, Hellam Township, PA.
This is a not-to-be missed event occurring every four years which is as
close to a national Scout jamboree as you can come on a council level.
Picture over 3,000 Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, and Sea Scouts setting up
camp at Wizard Ranch for a super Scouting extravaganza.
Exact details are pending, but having attended every Wizard Safari for
the last 50 years, Skipper Kain says: “You DEFINITELY want to be there!”
